Founded in 1959, the Galerie neuer meister is the youngest of the museums in the Dresden State Art Collections. Originally built as an arsenal, it was converted into a museum building at the end of the 19th century. The name Albertinum goes back to King Albert of Saxony (reigned 1873 – 1902). Today, the 5,650 square meter picture gallery displays around 3,000 works of painting – from the Romantic period to the present day.
As part of the refurbishment of the building in 2009/2010, the candelabras on the world-famous Brühl’s Terrace were to be renewed and equipped with state-of-the-art LED lighting technology.
We painstakingly restored the existing candelabras in keeping with the listed building and fitted the luminaire bodies with our energy-efficient His.lux led modules. Since completion, the Albertinum in Dresden has shone with our LED modules in new LED light with a historic warm white GasLight look.
We integrated LED spotlights in the upper part of the luminaires, which now effectively illuminate the facades of the Albertinum. This combined solution enables effective illumination of the outdoor area and cost-effective lighting of the façade.
