Upper West at Breitscheidplatz, Berlin-Charlottenburg

The metalworking specialist Arnold AG was commissioned to build an oversized gas lamp based on a design by the artist Olaf Nicolai for the forecourt of the „Upper West“, an imposing 119-meter-high skyscraper in the middle of Berlin’s City-West.

The solution was the detailed, impressive custom construction of a 16-meter-high Berlin gas lamp (model lamp of Old Berlin) with a bundled pillar mast. Compared to the standard height, it is 4:1 larger. The „Berliner Ensemble“ shines in the City-West made of highly polished stainless steel.

We designed, supplied and installed the complete control and condensing technology as well as the special installation kits for the gas lighting technology for Arnold AG.

The new lamp on the Upper West is probably the largest gas light candelabra in the world.
