Gertrauden bridge, Berlin, Germany
The Steinerne Gertrauden Bridge in Berlin-Mitte was built at the end of the 19th century to meet the growing traffic in the center of Berlin. It connects the historical districts of Neu-Cölln and Friedrichswerder with Alt-Cölln on the Spreinsel. The name is reminiscent of the Gertrauden Hospital from the 15th century. The three-meter-high statue is the patron saint Gertraude, which helps against mouse and rats and protects travelers, arms and widows. The bridge is under monument protection and is only used as a pedestrian bridge, since road traffic is led over the steel bridge built in 1977.
The old, historical lights were renovated by us and provided with his.lux LED modules. LED spotlights were integrated in the roof area, which illuminate the Gertraude at night.
Now the old bridge shines in a warm -white, energy -efficient but historic LED light.
The Gertraude, illuminated, is now also perceived by Berliners and tourists in the dark.
